So many people make a huge deal out of New Year’s Eve. Whether it’s because you are a huge partier and love the glitz, glam, and glitter of a NYE bash, or because you’re goal-oriented and love the optimism, hope, and excitement of a brand new year, so many people around the world LOVE that holiday. I think that for best results, you should start NOW to plan your 2020-2021 celebration! And no – I don’t mean the outfit and party (although that sounds really fun!). Read on to learn How To Have The Best NYE Celebration!
Did you know that I used to have my own TV show? Unless you’ve been my friend (in life or on social media) for quite a while, I am guessing not. I wrote about it in a bit more detail in my most recent book(let), but five years ago, I really wanted my own tv show. When I thought about why I wanted it and how it would look on a day-to-day basis, I decided to take the reins (instead of waiting for someone to discover me and make me the next Oprah or Ellen) and produced it from home for a while. It ended up inspiring my podcast, which is still going strong!
In the very first episode, I shared an idea that I’ve seen going viral since… (and I am not claiming this as my own).
It is to create your yearly highlight reel by writing good things that happened in a jar, and then opening the jar at the end of the year and celebrating everything that’s happened.
I’ve been taking a half-a$$ed approach to this every year since then. When something good happened in my and Tommy’s lives, I’d write it on a slip and stick it in a box or a cute container.
Did we open it this past NYE and celebrate the great things, like me writing an eBook, and a second booklet, and Tommy getting his first job in the NBA and moving to a cool place in downtown Sacramento?
Nope! Because I knew I hadn’t been diligent in writing things down. In fact, I don’t think those big milestones in the past four months even made it onto any slips!
So here’s how I’m going to be more proactive… How to have the best NYE celebration so far for New Year’s Even 2020/2021: every Saturday, I am going to look back over the previous week (my 90X Goal Planner* wins with Lauren G. Foster’s journaling suggestions will help!) and write SOMETHING down. Of course, not everything will be as epic as writing a book and then another book(let), but I am sure I will be able to find SOMETHING that is worth celebrating in each week (see the pic below)! I also plan on asking frequently in my personal development group on facebook and sharing my own wins with the group there, as another way to keep it top of mind!
And, I am going to ask Tommy to share his wins with me each week, too! It’ll be a great conversation piece, and I can write them for him and surprise him with the celebration at the end of the year, too!
Taking a proactive approach and making this a true habit is going to be the game-changer this time in how to have the best NYE celebration, I’m sure of it!
I hope you do this with me!
xoxo,
Mandie
